Consultation Fee
Thirty-minute consumer bankruptcy phone consultations are FREE OF CHARGE. In-person consultations are $400.
For your initial consultation, gather the following documents:
Documents and Information to Gather for Bankruptcy
Income Statements
Copies of your (and your spouse’s regardless of if you are filing jointly or not) last six months of pay advice (paycheck stubs).
Also, if you receive other type of income including:
- Unemployment benefits (Log onto EDD and print out of your payments)
- Social Security Benefits (Annual Social Security letter)
- Disability Benefits (Most recent benefit’s letter or award letter)
- Child/spousal Support (Most recent court order)
- Pension/Retirement Income (Most recent retirement or pension statement)
- Any other source of income or contribution from a regular source such as a roommate, significant other, or parent (Be prepared to provide details)
Business or Independent Contractor* Income, Rental or Other Business-Type Income
Business financial records including:
- 6 months profit/loss statement
- Balance Sheet
- Cash Flow Statement
*For bankruptcy purposes, independent contractors are considered a business if you earn money for providing services or engage in independent sales and/or you receive a 1099 statement from any source for services provided, including independent truck drivers and gig workers including DoorDash, GrubHub, Uber, Lyft, Postmates, etc.
Federal and State Tax Returns
Copies of the last two (2) federal and state tax returns you filed. For example, if you filed tax returns for 2022 and 2023, bring copies of both of those tax returns to the initial consultation. Tax transcripts may are acceptable and can be obtained from IRS.gov.
Knowledge of Expenses
An understanding of your monthly household expenses including monthly mortgage payments/rent, utilities, cell phone(s), cable/internet bundled services, food, clothing, home maintenance/repair, average monthly insurance premiums, medical expenses, charitable giving, car payments, transportation costs, etc.
Knowledge of Your Assets
An understanding of everything you own and their values including real property, personal property, motor vehicles, boats, recreational vehicles, jewelry, collectibles, bank accounts, retirement accounts, and investments.
Knowledge of Who You Owe
An understanding of who you owe and approximately how much including mortgages, car payments, credit cards, bank loans, student loans, personal loans, taxes, support obligations, etc.
